so, in not knowing what to write & I don't want to write about my weekend [I feel like I do that all the time] & I don't want to sit here and write about complaints& annoy you guys... I'll think I'll just make lists---one of the blogging ideas from that DOC.
LIST #1 :
THINGS I WANT TO DO BEFORE I DIE(cliche, I know)
(1) travel to all the 7 continents
(2) sky dive
(3) peace corp<-- I don't know how plausible that is
(4) live until I'm a hundred, so I can say: "I lived a decade"
(5) have a Rhode Island license plate... not many people have those
(6) go to Niagara Falls
LIST #2:
PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS THAT SLIGHTLY BUG ME
(1) complaining. When it seems like every conversation that you have with someone is about a complaint that they can control.
(2) sticking with judgments. I would say judgments, but we all make judgments with people's first impressions. But, sticking with our impressions and trying not get to know someone based off that first impression is bothersome. Just because someone instantly closes their mind off to someone else and misses out on how wonderful another person can be.
LIST # 3:
THINGS THAT I LIKE
(1) arts. I like going to chorus concerts, plays, acapella performances. I think it's because not only do I like things like of that genre, but I also appluad those who are dedicated to practicing for their performances.
(2) ice cream.
(3) comedy. Everyone loves to laugh
(4) I like stumbling upon random pictures that move you or make you think.
(5) up & down words game on usa today. It's kind of like chain reaction, but easier. lol
Those are some things that I want to do before I die, personality characteristics that annoy me, and some things that I like. How about you guys, what are some things you want to do before you die, some personality characteristics that bug you, and some things you like???
--GOOD LUCK w. ANY PAPERS or TESTS YOU GUYS HAVE--

Ko-merican
PREFACE:SO, instead of writing about what I did this weekend or what is currently happening, I decided to write about my background/ethnicity & parents.
BLOG:
I'm half Korean & half Caucasian--it's mixed w. Irish, English, Native American, & a bunch of random stuff (i don't really know the specifics, but i do know those 3 for sure). I'm a hybrid. a mutt.
I'm Ko-merican.
I was born in South Korea on military soil, so I do have American citizenship (just throwing that in there because when I state where I'm born, people always ask if I have American citizenship. lol
My mom is full Korean. She's 5 foot exactly. My dad is 5 foot 8 inches. I split the difference of my parents-- I'm 5 foot 4 inches, just in case you guys were wondering lol. My mom is this cute little Korean lady. I adore her. When she gets frustrated with me, I like to go up to her and give her a big bear hug and be like, "I lub you, mommy. you lub me? yesh?" This may make her upset for like 3 secs, but then she can't help but laugh and then get over being frustrated. She wants the best for me--just like any mother. She just wants us (my sister, brother, and I) to be happy and she strives to make sure we are happy. Her cooking is phenomenal. The Korean and American dishes she makes are beyond words along with the concoctions she makes. My mom is you're typical Korean lady. Yes, at times, she does have Korean manners, but she is Americanized to a certain degree; she still tries to tell us about Korean traditions.
My dad is full Caucasian. My dad is definitely one of a kind. One of my guy friends says, "he's like a 'man-child'" that sounds weird, I know... let me explain. He is like a child stuck in a man body according to my friend. But, my friend's encounters with my dad have been talking about comics with super heroes, bands from the 70's and 80's, and joking around about nonsense. My dad's sense of humor has to be one of the favorite characteristics of him. My dad is very easy going and very laid back. But, don't let that fool you. My dad is a very smart man--that may sound bias, but it is true. He knows a lot and if he doesn't know something, he researches it to find the answer.
Anywho. I have a lot of respect for my parents. As cliche as this sounds, my parents are also my friends. Moving around (we moved around a few times, not a whole lot compared to other military kids) I think made us closer as a family because when you move to a new place, the people you know and always will have is your family.
They both lived a hard life yet they don't show bitterness for their hard lives; they stay positive and work hard. With certain topics, I'm closer to one parent over the other (just like anyone else). Both my parents give very good advice that I take to consideration when making life choices.
SUMMARY: Yep. Basically, I love my parents and I do talk to them on the daily. Actually, I talk to my mom on the daily. I try to talk to my dad on the daily, but he is preoccupied with work during the weekdays--the weekends is when we catch up. (:
QUESTION: So, how about you guys? what is your ethnicity/background? & relationship w. your parents (if you want to talk about it)?

winding down...
As the semester is winding down, we are being bombarded with exams, papers, quizzes, tests, and etc. We have to plan in more study time. Time management is key to be successful. Now, let's be honest, we all know how to manage our time. It's the execution of it that is the problem, which some of seem to be lacking in--- I'm one of those people.
But, my blog isn't about time management.
It's about stress and how I deal with it.
DISCLAIMER: I don't get stressed that easily or at least I tell myself I'm not stressed.
If it's school related stress, I write a list of what NEEDS to be done. Then I break up that list so it seems less stressful. Then tackle the different lists one by one. But before I do that, I have to calm my nerves. To do so, I watch a funny youtube video. (example: this a video my friend sent me--->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBOV8WzH-oY&sns=em) then after that, I get my ipod or listen to pandora while doing work to avoid being stressed.
OR
I end up procrastinating for hours, then within the last few hours I do the assignment and work under pressure--which for some classes its easier for me to do.
Family related stress. Well, to be honest, I don't get that stressed with my family with the exception of my sister. With my family, I try to be rational, calm, and collected. If my any one gets mad at me in my family, I don't get worked up, I try to understand why they are mad--maybe they are having a bad day. So, I let them vent, then try to rationally and calmly talk to them--that usually works out. My sister on the other hand, she stresses me out with her dating life-- not that it s bad, but she keeps going back to the person that has hurt her the most and that isn't good for her. But, I've tried my best to help her out, so there's not much I can do after a year-- I just have to let it go.
Friend related stress. I'm usually really calm and not stressed with friends. Former friends however, make me a little nervous because I tend to believe that everything that happened is my fault. And, when I do have that built up stress, I go exercise to relieve steam.
How do you guys deal with stress????

weekend
CURRENT THOUGHT:
I like thunderstorms. I don't necessarily "love" them like other people. But, they are quite nice. I remember back when I lived in Arizona, we used to have thunderstorms all the time. And, when the power went out, my mom would be like, "Oh, no! The Popsicles are going to melt." Then she would take us to the refrigerator and grab some Popsicles for us. We then would relocate ourselves to the dining table and eat them while looking outside at the rain and lightning. Good times.
WEEKEND:
So, this past weekend, I went home to spend time with the good ol' family. I told my best friend I was coming home, but I told her that I was going to spend time with the family and I asked her to keep it on the DL because I wasn't trying to hangout with people/ get people upset for not telling them.
Friday. I took the 4:30 bus to JMU to meet my parents (they were already picking up my sister at Mary Balwdin College-it's near JMU). I arrived around 7 at JMU. My parents then asked where did I want to eat since I was hungry. Of course my reply was Subway. So, we ate at Subway. Then drove home. By the time I got home it was almost. I was greeted by my little brother at the door. My family and I were supposed to watch a movie, but everyone was tired. So, my dad and I just watched some stand up comedy on comedy central.
Saturday. We were supposed to go to DC and see the cherry blossoms, but my brother and I didn't wake up until the afternoon; so, we didn't. My mom, sister, and I decided to have a girls' shopping day instead. Then we came back and cooked dinner. I grilled some steaks while doing some homework while my mom and sister did the rest. We ate dinner as a family. Then we watched Aladin on ABC family. My brother and I stayed up watching Bruce Almighty and eventually fell asleep.
Sunday. My parents took my sister back while my brother and I stayed home. We watched Enchanted on TBS while doing homework. Then I packed. Went to vienna station for the 5:30 bus. Came back around 9:20. yep.
That was my weekend. It may sound lame to others, but I enjoyed it. (:

sorry, if all my posts are about my weekend.
